"are you pukin'? usually if i'm down on the floor like that, i'm pukin!"-steve.

Thanksgiving at teresa's this year! i baked a vegan pumpkin pie and topped it with chocolate ganache the night before....i planned to only have it and just snack on apples at her house, but i ended up running to kroger the morning of with noodles and buying onion, celery, dog biscuits for noodles and then they didn't have a roll of vegan gimme lean sausage, so i had to run to the other kroger up north and buy it with some steamfresh corn, tofutti cuties, a quorn to'rkey roast log and annie's macaroni for dave.
i went home and mixed up 2 pans of vegan cornbread sausage stuffing....oh man is it fantastical. lots of sage and thyme, and browned gimme lean sausage...dave picked me up and we
headed to teresa's. i grabbed my purple apron.

At teresa's, i put my quorn turkey in the toaster oven to bake and brown. mixed up dave's white cheddar macaroni, and microwaved my corn. teresa had a huge table of dark and white meat turkey, sweet potatoes extra sweetened, noodles cooked in meat broth, brown and serve rolls, croissants, stuffing, puppy chow, pumpkin and pecan pie, mashed potatoes, and celery-carrots-green olives with ranch dippins.
She made me a huge pot of hot spiced apple cider with captain morgan's in it.
the house was warm from the fire, i wore my apron and my tall knee socks and pink shorts.

we watched the goonies and got sleepy on the couch. i had 2 plates of me food.
teresa's friend steve came over, and i believe i have found the spokesperson for quorn t'rkey roast, he was eating a medallion of the fungus mycoprotein "meat" and he said it tasted like real turkey, while wearing a navy baseball cap that read something like..."nuckin futs..." this is also the man that called me dave's "old lady".
fun fun time at teresa's house. after we sat a bit and had a go at the food, teresa and i made peanut butter fudge from katie's recipe-using marshmallow creme. then we baked hunter's birthday cake, a chocolate texas sheet cake with rich rich chocolate pecan icing on top.

what a good day.

cry ass!

Borden thanksgiving was yesterday. had a lovely time! daun brought chris ! and we played some rummy and ate tons of good vegan food that daunie kindly brought!
I had mashed potatoes, really meaty chewy bbq seitan, veggie pot pie, stuffing, corn, some fruit salad, and I had one of Daunie's vegan carrot cake cupcakes with fluffy fluffy vanilla buttercream on top. I made the smlove pie and a bunch of people liked it! It was ultra smooth "silky"-daun. I had a bite and it was so so rich.
Today I am staying home from work, I have a little list of things to do, but I will probably just end up watching a crapload of Gilmore girls, I'm on season 5!
But i'm planning on writing another silent movie for mandy & kodie, and wrapping some presents!
Pictured are daunie's cupcakes and Lisa's jumbo spice cake. really really jumbo.

Thanksfoddering!

a lovely occasion shared with family. and luke danes the chocolate turkey. (please watch gilmore girls)
i baked my chocolate - pumpkin pie last night (recipe from the thanksgiving issue of Martha Stewart "triple chocolate pumpkin pie") and my bbq seitan.
daunie arrived with the -free- tofurkey, vegan giblet gravy, roasted red pepper salmon, a loaf of 8 grain-3 seed scholar's bakehouse bread, and a huge bunch of kale with pumpkin seeds.
we then cooked the kale and pumpkin seeds together with vinegar, and it wilted oh so small-lee. there was about a cupful! we rationed.
mom had her real turkey, made some stuffing, had a bloppy can of cranberry sauce, & belgium brussels sprouts. And a splenda brown sugar pumpkin pie for dad.
featured on my plate is.....(clockwise L to R)
a slab of tofurkey with gravy, slice of scholar's bread, my small ration of kale, corn, a basil baking powder biscuit (i baked last night) and a large spoonful of bbq seitan.
next picture is my lovely pie. luscious graham cracker crust, topped with the crumbs on top.
this bottom picture is luke dane's pictured with my chocolate pumpkin pie and a bit o' mom's splenda pumpkin pie and daunie's fork and finger-knee.

Here is a recipe for the basil baking powder biscuits:
2 cups flour, 3 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp. dried basil, 3/4 tsp. salt, 1/4 c. veg marg, 3/4 c. soymilk, and 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar.
preheat oven to 450f. in large bowl, stir together flour, bp, basil, and salt. cut in veg marg and mix in soymilk and vinegar. cut dough into 6 amounts and drop into oiled muffin tins. bake 12-15 mins.
